SYNOPSIS | ||||
In every universe, scattered across every reality, there exists a perfect sphere of Quantum Silica, an ancient, possibly alien artifact so powerful its thought to contain the key to unraveling the mysteries of time itself. In a world parallel to our own, such an artifact has been found. Frederich Stoltz is a world-renowned scientist from a reality where a Nazi-inhabited Germany actually won the Second World War. Hitlers son, and heir, has become the new Fuehrer, monarch of the modern world. Stoltz has discovered a Quantum Sphere intact, and is forced by the new Fuehrer to use it in an experiment for the Reich. Stoltzs experiment mysteriously fails, scattering seven fragments of the relic throughout different dimensions of time. Here. Now. Nick Vargas is the proprietor of an East Village record shop. Nick suddenly experiences a vision of Stoltz, and what he can only imagine to be possible realities to come. He soon discovers his life is forever changed, when Nick awakes to find hes acquired the power of teleportation. He also discovers that a bizarre gemstone has grafted itself to his forehead. As Nick investigates the gem, and the nature of these newfound powers, he is whisked off to Stoltzs timeline. Nick arrives in the scientists world, to find Stoltz being tortured by a Nazi death squad. Nick is forced to save Stoltz, who apparently also has a fragment of the Quantum grafted to his chest. Stoltz has apparently been given the ability by the Quantum to sense the ebb and flow of the space/time continuum. He theorizes that the stone has grafted to other cross-time counterparts--that it requires an organic host to exist in its current, broken state--and needs to be reassembled in order for time to be repaired. However, Stoltz is not sharing the entire truth. Nevertheless, he convinces Nick to help track down their counterparts, the fragments of the Quantum, and to repair the damage done to the space/time continuum. Little do the two companions know that lurking in the wings is Amarillo Frosch, a rogue counterpart who already knows of Stoltzs experiment, his secret, and his plan to repair the time-stream. Frosch is now able to see every current reality possible, thanks to the fragment of Quantum that has pierced his eye. Knowing their plans, he secretly plots to secure the fragments of the Quantum Sphere for his own gain. Frosch can also see the ever-growing fractures in time and space, and plucks from them his own cross-time army, intent on destroying the heroes. Along their way, Nick and Stoltz recruit Billy Capra, a transient, and counterpart of Nick and Stoltz, whose reality is a post-nuclear version of our own. Billy can now apparently conjure up any object he desires through his magic coin, a fragment of the Quantum artifact imbedded in his hand. Nick, Stoltz, and Billy go in search of the fourth fragment, which is lodged in the throat of singer Skyler Hope. Skylers Quantum Fragment gives her the power to open large rifts in space/time using her voice. A natural hothead, this lady now has a lethal scream, which, after securing some of the local high-tech equipment, Nick and the others use to travel to other cross-time dimensions. Eventually joining Nick and company is Tony Ghiottone - the loyal muscle of the group, recently cured of paralysis by the Quantum - and Blu, a high-priced call girl with an attitude, and possibly a hidden agenda. This mismatched group is hesitant to unite at first, but with Nicks leadership, eventually uncover the secret of the Quantum, and oppose the insidious plot being hatched by the evil Amarillo Frosch. | ||||
